Are you excited to jump into the exhilarating world of Airsoft?

It might feel a little overwhelming at first, but you’ve totally got this! Before you know it, terms like "UKARA," Joules" and "FPS" will be second nature.

Let’s simplify everything so you can dive into the fun!

First things first.. get out there and play some games! sounds easy, but with the amazing growth of Airsoft the last decade, it’s easy to feel lost. I definitely recommend checking out a local site and enquiring about their "Hire Package."

This usually includes a rental mask, rifle, and plenty of ammunition to keep the excitement high! Renting gear gives you the chance to jump right in without the stress of buying equipment too early, make sure to wear ankle supported footwear and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Don’t forget to bring a change of clothes for afterwards, the UK weather be quite bipolar.

So what is provided in a rental package/hire package?

This isn't bible, but usually you receive the following.

1 x rental rifle (RIF)
1 x high capacity magazine
1 x
 full face protection (Mask)
1 x full day ticket

What is next?

So you have attended your first airsoft game and you've enjoyed your experience and decided that you would like to get more involved!

It's usually at this point people will take to the internet to do some research and commonly find themselves seeing the term UKARA.

What is UKARA and how do I obtain one?

UKARA is a UK wide recognised organisation that helps players and sites alike, more information can be found on their website.

UKARA provides to you the player, a defense / reason to own a RIF (Real Imitation Firearm) but let me be clear, this is NOT a licence.

"Player registration is free, to become a registered airsoft player you are required to take part in three games at the same UKARA registered game site over a minimum of two months, e.g. the third game being 56 days or more after the first.

You must be over 18 years of age, live within the UK and able to provide identification such as Passport, Drivers License or Bank Statement." - UKARA

Now you know what is required for a UKARA how do you apply?

Track the 3 or more game days you attended within the allotted time frame and email the site you attended, they will guide you going forward on what to do.

Now you have received your UKARA number, congratulations!

Let's talk about critically important things that are overlooked.

You want to order your first RIF whatever it might be, you'll need 4/5 Magazines for that RIF, and you will need minimum 2 batteries per game day and a decent charger. Make sure you budget for your complete loadout.

Lastly, It's important to not skimp out on protective equipment (If you are under 18, you are legally required to wear one piece full face protection) Over 18 the minimum requirement are ballistic rated eye protection.

DO NOT get the cheapest pair, buy eye pro from airsoft shops or sites. Don't be fooled by cheap masks online!!!

Equally good ankle supportive footwear is absolutely vital, spending £500 on a RIF and £40 on boots doesn't make any sense.
